Over the Hills and Far Away

It was a somewhat overcast day with only small glimpses of blue sky above on the popular Isle of Skye. For a landscape artist who loves painting skies, what’s not to like about a gorgeous island named “Skye?” However, the island’s name is apparently not a reference to the occasional beautiful skies but is thought to come from skitis, an early Celtic word for winged, possibly referring to how the islands peninsulas radiate from the Cuillin hills in the center of the island. On a drive one day, I was lucky enough to catch this image of these striking yellow flowers, called gorse, with the blue waters and green hills in the background.
            Happy Weekend!
