I have a fascination with paths, rivers, and streams. Maybe I’m drawn to these pathways because I’m intensely curious about where they go or maybe because they represent adventure or traveling which I love. Maybe its because I’m usually looking forward, asking, in an almost naively optimistic way, “What’s next? What’s up ahead?” Whatever the reason, I love to paint meandering rivers and streams and pathways that go off into the distance and of course, lead to a beautiful place….or at least they always do in my imagination.

Irish Blessing

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day (and because I’m Irish-American), I share some Irish blessings and wit with you:

May the Irish hills caress you.
May her lakes and rivers bless you.
May the luck of the Irish enfold you.
May the blessings of Saint Patrick behold you.

May brooks and trees and singing hills
Join in the chorus, too.
And every gentle wind that blows
Send happiness to you.

There are only two kinds of people in the world, The Irish

And those who wish they were

May those who love us love us.
And those that don't love us,
May God turn their hearts.
And if He doesn't turn their hearts,
May he turn their ankles,
So we'll know them by their limping.

May you have food and raiment,
A soft pillow for your head,
May you be forty years in heaven
Before the devil knows you're dead.

May you have warm words on a cold evening,
A full moon on a dark night,
And the road downhill all the way to your door

The reason the Irish are always fighting each other
Is they have no other worthy opponents.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Spring Break

This wasn’t us this past weekend but it certainly felt like this. We took a break and drove over to the coast for a few days of rest and relaxation. We were so lucky to have sunny and mild weather. We took long walks, sampled different wines, and watched the sun set over the sea. I almost was too lazy to paint but had to capture this scene from our balcony.
Ahhh, the shift from focusing on a screen to focusing on the natural world never fails to renew my spirit. Hope spring has arrived for you or is not too far away. Happy Weekend!

When we arrived it was rainy and cold…more like fall than mid-summer. And then the rain stopped and we were treated to a beautiful sunset that set this quiet cove on fire. It was a beautiful ending to our day exploring the country north of our “North Country”.
            Happy Weekend!
