            Something about the rhythm of the waves rolling in and back out again can be comforting. When we get distressed, our breathing becomes more shallow and rapid. When we stop and listen to the rhythms of nature like the rise and fall of the waves, our breathing slows and we calm down. I’m grateful for the sounds of nature like this, as well as the joyful sounds of spring I hear from all the birds outside my window.

            There’s something so mesmerizing about the ebb and flow of waves. The sound of the waves, as they build and then gradually crash on the shore, can lull you into a relaxing stupor. As an additional treat, if you’re patient and wait until the sun is setting, the light can make them glow with all the colors of the rainbow. I just love painting waves!
