We had arrived at our Airbnb on the west coast, positioned on a cliff overlooking the ocean. I was in heaven! There were so many beautiful views to paint but I had to choose one as the sun was going down. The water below was studded with large and small rocks with the currents swirling both surfers and the blue-green water around them. It was so much fun standing on a cliff, with the ocean breeze in my face, painting these cool rocks.

My active daughter unfortunately hurt her knee pretty badly recently. She’ll be fine but when I was visiting recently, I noticed these lovely flowers. Apparently, a friend of a friend found out she was stuck on the couch trying to recover as quickly as possible (with a 2 yr old and a 5 month old)and got her these beautiful yellow roses. What a kind thing to do!

This is a study I painted on location while on the west coast a few weeks ago.
After a mostly cloudy day, just a little before sunset, the sun came out briefly and colored the sky and ocean shades of gold. It was a wonderful ending to a summer day on the coast.
