            This painting is loosely based on a photo of a snowfall several years ago in the Atlanta area. Given that snow is not that common here in the south, we react differently from my northern family and friends.  We get out and enjoy the snow since everything shuts down at once. Everyone, including adults, grabs something that remotely resembles a sled (garbage can lids, trays, cardboard), finds a hill (plentiful here in the foothills of the Appalachians), and goes sledding.

             We don’t often get snow in the Atlanta area but in early December of 2017, we got a surprise snow fall and we all, kids and adults, went crazy over it. This is the fun of a snow fall in the south; it’s unusual enough that we take the time to fully appreciate it.

            This painting is based on a wonderful photo taken by my good friend, Ken Carter in a local park. The photo features a beautiful blue sky, glistening snow, and if you looked really carefully, this mother and child out enjoying an unexpected day in the park.

The Fun of Snow

            It’s been raining again for days, leaving the land soggy, brown, and gray. I remember this snow fall from last winter and a photo taken by my friend Ken of happy parents and kids playing in the snow. You can see the beauty of the snow and the sun making the remaining leaves in the trees glow...now this is my ideal winter scene!

            This painting is based on a photo from a friend of mine (thanks Ken) of a local Atlanta park after our snowfall last week. Since we don’t see snow all that often in the south, we tend to go a little crazy when we do. The good part of the craziness is that so many workplaces close, that parents can actually have as much fun playing in the snow as  their kids can.
