It was the end of a beautiful day and we were having a delicious meal of lobster, our last one before leaving wonderful southern Maine. We had the perfect vantage point in the restaurant because we could see the setting sun cause the shore of the other islands to glow with this radiant, warm light.  This is the kind of scene to keep you warm on a chilly fall day or night.

When the Water’s Away, the People Will Play

When the tide goes out in the Mt. Desert Narrows in Bar Harbor, a long sandbar is temporarily exposed which people quickly take advantage of. There’s something cool about walking along this long, narrow stretch of sand, exploring what the tide’s left behind. It’s also a bit exciting in that if you get too caught up in exploring the island and ignore the incoming tide you will find yourself stranded for hours, waiting for the next tide to recede.
