You Are The Light
![]() |
Remembering John Lewis………
"You are a light. You are the light. Never let anyone—any person or any force—dampen, dim or diminish your light. Study the path of others to make your way easier and more abundant."
"Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.”
“Do not get lost in a sea of despair. Be hopeful, be
optimistic. Our struggle is not the struggle of a day, a week, a month, or a
year; it is the struggle of a lifetime. Never, ever be afraid to make some
noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.” — John Lewis

Study in Lavender

I don’t
know about you but with all of the bad news I keep hearing sometimes I just
need to imagine being someplace like this…to catch my breath, and remember what
peace and tranquility feel like.

Mattole Beach
![]() |
We were in
northern California, winding our way through redwoods, golden, grassy hills sprinkled
with cattle, and then back down to the water somehow. We discovered this interesting
beach where the winds were cold, the sand was dark and littered with driftwood,
and the water was a beautiful, emerald green. I love how the natural world consistently
amazes me!

I hope wherever you
are, that you enjoy sunshine, good food, and most of all, a safe, socially-distanced
celebration.

Solstice Sunset
![]() |
I’ve always
been fascinated by the solstice and when I read that the sunsets are longest on
this special day, it started to make more sense. I found out that it actually
takes more minutes for the body of the sun to sink below the horizon which
means on the solstice, we have more time to enjoy all of the beautiful colors
of a sunset. Of course that meant that I just had to create a longer than usual
painting of a sunset on the solstice. Hope you enjoyed your solstice wherever
you were.

Highlights of Summer
![]() |
As I write this it’s not quite officially summer but it’s
beginning to feel like it already. There are longer hours of sunlight and today
it’s sunny and warm with big fluffy clouds overhead. I love summer skies since
there are usually full of interesting clouds that are both challenging and fun
to paint.
Happy
Weekend!
