            We’ve had more rain and grey skies this week, leaving me longing for a glimpse of blue skies and sun. So, of course I manufactured the sky I was hoping to see this week and for a brief period of time, I was in this landscape, remembering the smell of freshly cut grass, the sounds of birds, and the distant lowing of cows.

             It’s been grey and rainy this week, already reminding me that our glorious fall weather is coming to an end. So lately, I find myself drawn to images of summer or spring, when color returns to our landscape.  The reference photos for this painting come from a summer hike in the Swiss mountains, where I spotted these beautiful wild flowers amongst the rocks.

            One of my favorite areas on the west coast is the Monterey area. Several years ago, I was fortunate enough to have this view as twilight settled over the hills. What a beautiful sight!
