I’ve always loved paths that wind through woods along the water. This one was particularly beautiful with the scent of wildflowers mixed with salt air, lush foliage with occasional berry bushes for snacks, and glimpses of an azure blue sea as you came around the corner. What a gorgeous place to hike and enjoy being outdoors on a perfect summer day!

Remembering this beautiful place, with gorgeous views, cool breezes, and wonderful places to walk. There were farms to explore, with mildly curious cows, woods to walk through with interesting stone arches and this beautiful view of Loch Linnhe. Hoping to visit Scotland again in the not too distant future.

Every spring, while walking through my neighborhood, I’ve been lucky to enjoy the beauty and fragrance of my neighborhood magnolia trees. The snowy white blossoms are huge, look velvety soft, and smell heavenly!

This is a petite painting done on location in one of my favorite parks to walk or hang out in: Panola Mountain State Park in Stockbridge, Georgia. It’s a time of year when you’ll see whole families out fishing, with the kids either looking on or with their own fishing poles which they seem very proud of.

It’s Memorial Day weekend, a long holiday weekend that is both a time to honor those who have lost their lives serving our country as well as a signal that the summer has begun.
I can’t help but think that maybe this year we need to think and extend our compassion, our hugs, our kindness, to all those who lost someone this past year.

It’s getting warm already here in the south and I would love to be back on the northwest coast, with cool breezes and the ocean nearby. This was the view from a restaurant right on the water in Seattle. I don’t really remember the food but I’ll never forget the view of the sailboats out on the water, enjoying the last rays of sunshine before heading home.

Several years ago, we were driving back from the South Carolina coast and I was experiencing that familiar let-down feeling you have at the end of a nice weekend with only work to look forward to when, fortunately, I looked up at the sky. It was spectacular! It looked like an aerial race of clouds across the horizon blazing with color and light. I quickly took a ton of photographs as quickly as I could and promised myself that one of these days I would create a painting based on them. And so I have.
