            It looks like we’ll be seeing a lot of scenes like this as we travel. All the moisture in the air makes the outlines of the mountains and hills a little blurry. The forecast is alternating between light rain and showers. I don’t see much difference between these forecasts when it comes to hiking except how rapidly we’ll get wet. Oh well, it’s good that I brought rain gear. And I always remind myself there’s a reason it’s so green everywhere.

            We’re going to be traveling to Scotland soon so I’ve been practicing painting scenes from this beautiful country to make sure that I’m bringing the right pastel colors with me. I’ve been reminded that it seems there’s every shade of green in the landscape as well as many, many greys with the frequent mists and rain. Although I won’t have that much time to paint, I’m really looking forward to painting on location for even a small painting brings back so many more memories than photographs do.

             We set off for an island hoping the hurricane would miss us as predicted. It certainly wasn’t the smartest move we’ve ever made but it worked out fine. We had beautiful weather, a wonderful time, and spectacular waves to watch for a day or two.
