Along the Seine
|
It was my first time
in Paris and we only had about a day and a half to see everything! We were
exhausted from traveling and jet lag but it was Paris! So as soon as we got
there, we walked along the Seine for a couple of hours and later had an amazing
dinner. I remember how beautiful the fading afternoon light was on the bridge, the
colorful buildings and the river Seine. The next day we walked through
beautiful parks, toured Paris’
magnificent museums, the Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay, followed by more
wonderful food. Before we knew it, it was time to say, “Au revoir” to this
beautiful city. What an amazing place!

I was born in a city with a vast inland
sea (Chicago) and then grew up near the ocean in southern Florida. I now live
outside a major landlocked city (Atlanta), far away from the ocean and I find
myself really missing it from time to time. There’s something so mesmerizing
about standing on a shore, whether sandy or rocky as in this case, and just
watching the force and beauty of the incoming waves.
For
this painting, I used photos I took while climbing out on the rocks and
shooting the shoreline all the time hoping I didn’t lose my balance and become
part of the crashing surf below.
